The City of Neu-Ulm is seeking an Artistic Director for its off-space PUTTE – Project Space for Contemporary Art, under a two-year freelance contract.
About PUTTE
PUTTE is a project space for young, experimental art located in Neu-Ulm (Bavaria). It aims to make contemporary art accessible while bridging urban life, cultural policy, and the independent scene. Focused on site-specific and interdisciplinary practices—such as installation, video, performance, and participatory art—PUTTE also supports projects in public space or unconventional venues.
Role & Responsibilities
- Artistic and curatorial direction, organization, and administration of around five exhibitions per year.
- Freelance contract with a monthly fee of €1,000 (regardless of exhibitions).
- Average workload: 8–10 hours/week (flexibly distributed).
- Annual exhibition budget of up to €10,000, with additional fundraising encouraged.
- Presence required during opening hours (Fri–Sun) during exhibitions.

Candidate Profile
- Completed degree in art, design, film, architecture, cultural studies or related fields
- Strong interest and knowledge in contemporary art
- Experience in project management, public relations, and fundraising
- Familiarity with graphic design and CMS tools is a plus
- Self-motivated, collaborative, and full of creative initiative
