A.I.R. Gallery, the longest-running feminist artist-run space in the U.S., is hiring a full-time Exhibitions and Operations Manager. The role is central to the gallery’s daily operations and curatorial programming, including 20–25 exhibitions per year, public events, and two major fellowship and commissioning programs for women and non-binary artists.
This is an in-person position based in Brooklyn with a set weekly schedule and regular evening/weekend events.
Employment Details
- Position: Full-time, permanent
- Salary: $55,000–$60,000/year (based on experience)
- Schedule: Wednesday–Saturday, 10am–6pm, plus Tuesday installations and events
- Start date: September 2025
- Benefits: Health insurance, 3 weeks paid vacation + Christmas–New Year week
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day gallery operations and oversee 20–25 annual exhibitions
- Support artists with planning, logistics, and installation
- Oversee production of exhibition materials, shipping, tech needs, press, and contracts
- Coordinate public programs, including talks and performances
- Manage Fellowship and Commissioning Programs, including open calls, jurying, and cohort support
- Oversee budgets and reporting for exhibitions and programs
- Represent A.I.R. to the public and supervise interns
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree required (MA or equivalent experience preferred)
- Minimum 3 years of experience in nonprofit arts or gallery management
- Proven experience working directly with artists and exhibition production
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Deep alignment with feminist values and interest in community-centered work
- Proficiency in Google Suite and Adobe InDesign/Photoshop
