The Musée d’art et d’histoire (MAH) in Geneva is a dynamic institution rethinking its role as a cultural hub and laboratory of ideas. To strengthen its leadership team, the museum is seeking a Curator in Charge of Exhibitions to oversee the programming, planning, and implementation of its exhibition sector.
Responsibilities
- Ensure high-quality presentations aligned with the institution’s artistic and curatorial vision
- Chair the programming committee and ensure strategic alignment with institutional goals
- Coordinate exhibition planning, scheduling, and production
- Translate scientific content into engaging curatorial narratives in line with the museum’s charter
- Participate in management committee meetings and advise on cultural policy
- Oversee the exhibitions sector: organisational, administrative, financial, HR, and methodological aspects
- Supervise and motivate the exhibitions team, fostering collaboration
Candidate Profile
- Advanced degree (Master’s or higher) in history or art history, ideally complemented by museology or equivalent experience
- At least 10 years of relevant leadership and managerial experience, preferably in a museum setting
- Proven track record in delivering large-scale projects, particularly involving heritage collections
- Fluency in French and English, with strong oral and written communication skills
- Creativity, pragmatism, analytical thinking, and synthesis ability
- Strong negotiation skills, relational ease, and demonstrated leadership
- Well-established professional network in the artistic, cultural, and academic fields (national and international)
