The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) seeks a Curator for Asian Art to support the development, management, and exhibition of its Asian Art collection. The role includes curatorial and administrative duties, exhibition planning, collection management, and engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing the Asian Art collection in line with NGV Collections Strategy and acquisitions policy.
- Prepare documentation and manage processes related to acquisitions and collection management.
- Contribute to the planning, research, and coordination of displays and exhibitions.
- Participate in cross-departmental projects as required.
- Undertake administrative duties, including record keeping, budget management, correspondence, and responding to inquiries.
- Support audience engagement initiatives, publications, and learning programs through research, writing, and presentations.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to raise awareness of NGV’s collection and Asian Art holdings.
Candidate Profile
- Specialist knowledge of Asian Art, supported by a relevant tertiary qualification.
- Direct or transferable experience in curatorial practice, exhibition/project management, research, or publishing.
- Experience using collection management databases (e.g., Vernon) is highly desirable.
- Strong communication, organisational, and collaborative skills.
