Yan Du Projects appoints Billy Tang as Artistic director
#Appointed curator #Artistic DirectorYan Du Projects (YDP), a London-based nonprofit space founded by collector Yan Du, has appointed Billy Tang as Artistic director. His tenure begins ahead of YDP’s opening in October in a townhouse on Bedford Square.
YDP is Yan Du’s second nonprofit in London after the Asymmetry (2019). While Asymmetry focuses on curatorial development and Sinophone contemporary art, YDP will broaden its scope to Asian and Asian diaspora artists. Tang’s appointment follows the end of his three-year term as Executive director at Para Site in Hong Kong.
Born in London to parents who arrived in the UK as refugees after the Vietnam War, Tang previously worked as a curator at Magician Space in Beijing (from 2013) and as Senior Curator at Rockbund Art Museum in Shanghai (from 2018) before joining Para Site in 2022. He began his career in London at institutions including Camden Arts Centre.
