Role Overview
The Manager / Senior Manager of Curatorial Programmes will conceptualise, develop, and lead innovative curatorial programmes and resources for diverse adult audiences. The role involves building strong networks with artists, cultural institutions, and creative partners, managing programme execution, and ensuring alignment with ongoing exhibitions and the permanent collection.
Key Responsibilities
Curatorial Programme & Resource Development
- Conceptualise and implement engaging curatorial programmes and resources for adult audiences
- Maintain relationships with contemporary artists, artist communities, cultural institutions, and academia
- Stay informed on emerging trends in artistic practices and community sentiment
- Collaborate with internal teams to align programmes with exhibitions and collections
Programme Execution & Project Management
- Oversee full project lifecycle: budgeting, scheduling, resource management, and risk mitigation
- Ensure programmes are delivered on time and within budget, coordinating with Estates & Security, AVL, Events Management, Visitor Experience, and curators
- Partner with Marketing & Communications to produce promotional content and social media campaigns
- Manage operational aspects: ticketing, registration, attendance, feedback, and database maintenance
Analysis & Team Management
- Conduct data-driven programme evaluation and audience analysis
- Maintain archives and documentation of programmes
- Curate and maintain a database of contributors, speakers, and facilitators
- Mentor interns and junior staff, supporting professional development
- Undertake ad-hoc assignments and provide cross-team support
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Art, Curatorial Studies, or a related field
- 5–9 years of relevant experience developing or curating public-facing programmes
- Strong knowledge of the global contemporary art landscape
- Proven ability to plan and execute rigorous art and culture programmes (talks, workshops, performances)
- Highly organised, resourceful, and able to manage multiple complex projects
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills; proficiency in English mandatory, additional languages an advantage
- Cultural sensitivity and ability to work with diverse communities
- Availability for evening and weekend events
