This research residency supports scholars, artists, and researchers who demonstrate a compelling need to use the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation Archives in New York. Applicants may focus on Rauschenberg’s materials or related topics, including underrepresented subjects, multi-disciplinary practices, exhibitions, or publications. Residencies provide partial funding to address travel and onsite research costs.
Residency Details
- Sessions: Spring (April 20 – May 15, 2026), Summer (June 29 – July 17, 2026), Fall (September 28 – October 23, 2026)
- Hours: Monday–Friday, 10:30–5:00 (closed weekends; July–August closed Fridays)
- Location: Shared library-like setting, research-focused; no studio space provided
Eligibility Criteria
- Graduate-level or equivalent, U.S.-based or international applicants
- Cannot have received RRF funding in past 3 years
- Priority: independent researchers, underrepresented topics/audiences, long-distance travel
Funding & Expenses
- Stipend: $1,500 per week
- Housing: provided for residents 50+ miles from NYC
- Airfare/train: covered by the Foundation
- Residents responsible for local transit, meals, and incidental costs
