Salary: Amsterdam: €3,768–€4,897/month (gross); Paris: €3,000/month (gross, housing provided)
Reports to: Curatorial teams at Rijksmuseum Print Room and Fondation Custodia
This two-year curatorial traineeship offers early career art historians a unique opportunity to gain in-depth experience with internationally renowned collections of Dutch, Flemish, and old master prints and drawings. The programme combines one year at the Fondation Custodia in Paris and one year at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, providing hands-on training in curatorial work.
Responsibilities
- Assist with cataloguing and maintaining collections databases for prints and drawings
- Support research on permanent collections and potential acquisitions
- Participate in collection rotations and exhibitions, including label writing and interpretation
- In Paris, welcome scholars and visitors in the Frits Lugt Collection’s study room
- Contribute to research and exhibitions at both institutions, collaborating with curatorial teams
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Art History
- Strong interest in works on paper and ambition to pursue a curatorial career in prints and drawings
- Analytical and precise research and writing skills
- Strong interpersonal and social skills
- Good command of English; basic knowledge of French and/or Dutch
- EU citizenship
