This residency program supports PhD students conducting research for their dissertations on the cultural histories of Naples and southern Italy as centers of exchange, encounter, and transformation. Projects may be interdisciplinary, covering art and architectural history, archaeology, histories of collecting, technical art history, cultural heritage, digital humanities, music history, or related fields from antiquity to the present.
Residency Details
- Duration: 8 September 2026 – 7 June 2027
- Full-time, in-residence at La Capraia
- Accommodation: private bedroom/study/bath with communal spaces
- Stipend: €7,000
- Access to collections, sites, archives, and libraries in Naples and southern Italy
- Participation in seminars, gallery talks, and scholarly programs organized by La Capraia
- Opportunity to contribute a short essay to the Center’s annual research report
Eligibility
- PhD students of any nationality, preferably in the early stages of research
- Must obtain appropriate visas and health insurance
- Responsible for travel arrangements to and from Naples
