JGPACA and Chapter offer an 8-week Curatorial Traineeship in Pan-African Film and Archive Curation, aimed at participants based in Cardiff with African or Caribbean heritage. Trainees will explore Pan-African cinema, learn archival and curatorial practices, and curate a film screening event.
Traineeship Format
- Duration: 8 weeks (February–March 2026), weekly sessions on Wednesdays.
- Bursary: £784 total, inclusive of tax (£14/hour for 56 hours), paid in two installments.
- Attendance: Minimum of 7 out of 8 sessions required.
- Optional research screenings and local event participation.
Eligibility Criteria
- Based in Cardiff.
- African or Caribbean heritage.
- Aged 18 or over.
- No prior experience in film or archives required.
- Curious and motivated to learn about Pan-African Cinema.
Programme Highlights
- Learn about the history and significance of Pan-African and Black British cinema.
- Practical training in archive management, film curation, and event organisation.
- Creation of a reflective output (journal, video, or creative medium) and curation of a film screening.
