Role Overview
The Curator, First Nations Art, contributes to the curatorial and administrative management of the NGV’s First Nations Art collection, including exhibitions, displays, collection development, and audience engagement programs. The role involves working closely with the Senior Curator and cross-departmental teams to plan, develop, and implement curatorial projects and activities.
Responsibilities

Plan, research, and coordinate displays and exhibitions in line with departmental requirements.

Support the NGV Collections Strategy, including collection development, cataloguing, and documentation.

Undertake administrative duties, including budgets, schedules, correspondence, and financial administration.

Contribute to publications, audience engagement, and learning programs through research, writing, and presentations.

Engage with internal and external stakeholders to raise awareness of the First Nations Art collection.

Lead staff and teams, aligning them with organisational values and goals through effective people management.
Requirements

Specialist knowledge of First Nations Art.

Relevant tertiary qualification.

Experience in curatorial practice, exhibition and project management, publishing, or research within a related setting.

Demonstrated experience with exhibitions, public programs, or collections.

Sound knowledge of the creative industries.
Contract & Salary
-
Full-time, fixed-term 2-year contract.

VPS 4.1: $97,955 per annum + 12% superannuation.
