Curatorial Fellowship – 2026

ARAK Collection invites applications for its 2026 Curatorial Fellowship Programme, supporting young and mid-career curators with a focus on contemporary African art. Fellows conduct in-depth research, develop a curatorial project, and produce an exhibition accompanied by a catalogue.
Fellowship Format

Grant: Up to USD 20,000 (USD 5,000 for research, USD 15,000 for exhibition production and catalogue).

Duration: Multi-phase residency

Phase 1: Develop research budget, curatorial concept, and timeline; submit for approval.

Phase 2 – Research: Four months of research including artist interviews, literature review, and collection engagement to finalize artwork selection.

Phase 3 – Final Phase: Revise curatorial statements, catalogue texts, and prepare final submission.

Outcome
If approved, the project proceeds to production, culminating in a curated exhibition and accompanying catalogue under the supervision of the ARAK Collection team.
