Predoctoral and Postdoctoral Fellows 2026–2029

4A_Lab invites applications for predoctoral and postdoctoral residential fellowships (6–36 months for predoctoral; 6–24 months for postdoctoral) to pursue research in art history, aesthetics, archaeology, anthropology/ethnology, and related fields. The program fosters transdisciplinary and transregional dialogue, with access to the collections of the Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz and related Berlin institutions. Fellows participate in seminars, workshops, and conferences, developing projects on objects, practices, environments, and narratives across time and geography.

Fellowship Details

Start: September/October 2026 or May 2027
Duration: 6–36 months (predoctoral), 6–24 months (postdoctoral)
Contract: Max Planck Society doctoral funding; postdoctoral TVöD Bund E13
Support: Organizational support for visas, insurance, housing
Location: Residence in Berlin
Language: English

Eligibility

Master’s or PhD (within 7 years) in relevant disciplines
Interest in reflexive, transdisciplinary research
Engagement with 4A_Lab program activities
Strongly encouraged: reference to collections of Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz
