VIENNA ART WEEK (VAW) has presented the diverse and vibrant Viennese art scene every November since 2005. With around 70 programme partners and more than 100 events—ranging from studio visits and guided tours to performances and symposia—the festival spans from contemporary art to the Baroque period. All events are free of charge, and the festival attracts approximately 30,000 visitors annually, making it one of the most important art events in the Danube region.
As Associate Curator, you will play a key role in shaping the annual programme in close collaboration with the Artistic Director and the VAW team. This is a hands-on role requiring creativity, strong organisational skills, and collaborative spirit, while offering room for initiative and curatorial development.

Key Responsibilities
Concept Development
-
Develop ideas around the annual theme in collaboration with the team
-
Research relevant artistic positions
-
Draft a 1–2 page curatorial text on the annual theme

Participate in regular team meetings
Exhibition & Programme Production

Research and select artists aligned with the theme
-
Liaise with artists and galleries to secure artworks

Organise loan and transport logistics
-
Support on-site exhibition preparation

Write exhibition label texts
-
Coordinate installation and dismantling
-
Maintain communication with participating artists
Jury Participation

Serve as jury member for Open Studio Days and Independent Spaces & Special Projects

Review submissions and attend one jury meeting (May 2026)
