Position Overview
The Director of Artistic Studies will develop and implement the artistic policy of the French Academy in Madrid and oversee all related activities, including administrative, technical, and financial aspects.
The role is strategic in strengthening the institution’s visibility, impact, and institutional relevance, particularly in preparation for its centenary celebrations in 2028.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement the Academy’s artistic policy.

Oversee artistic programming and its administrative, technical, and financial management.

Participate in the selection and supervision of resident artists and fellows.

Define the missions of the external service provider responsible for programming (exhibitions, concerts, screenings, professional encounters, etc.).

Provide transversal advisory support in project management, promotion, communication, and publications.

Collaborate closely with scientific departments and the publications department to develop the thematic focus on “hybridity.”

Establish partnerships and secure funding for transdisciplinary projects leading up to the 2028 centenary.
Candidate Profile

In-depth knowledge of contemporary art networks in Spain and France.

Experience organising artistic events in France and internationally (exhibitions, concerts).

Experience in catalogue editing and budget management.

Knowledge of communication theories and concepts.

Strong project management and partnership development skills.

Leadership and ability to represent and advocate for institutional values.

Fluency in Spanish and French; good command of English.

Permanent residence in Madrid and availability for travel within France and Spain.
