Contract: Full-time (100%), fixed-term (18 months)
Start Date: July 1, 2026
Location: Weil am Rhein, Germany
The Vitra Design Museum is seeking a Curatorial Assistant for the preparation of a major exhibition exploring the relationship between city and nature. The role combines academic research, rights management, collection documentation, and exhibition coordination, contributing significantly to both the exhibition and its accompanying publication.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research on the exhibition’s thematic areas
- Secure and manage image, film, and audio rights
- Register and manage exhibits and media using MuseumPlus
- Coordinate administrative processes related to the exhibition and publication
- Work closely with the curator and internal/external project partners to ensure smooth planning and implementation
Candidate Profile
- Completed university degree (e.g. Art/Design History, Architecture, Urban Studies, Cultural Studies, or related field)
- Strong knowledge of modern and contemporary art, design, and architectural history
- Professional experience in museums or exhibition contexts
- Excellent written communication skills
- Fluent German and English
- Structured, independent working style with strong organizational skills
- High level of initiative, reliability, and sense of responsibility
