The A. M. Qattan Foundation (AMQF) is seeking a Director of the Cultural Programme to lead its integrated cultural portfolio, including public programming, curatorial practice, grant-making, professional capacity development, and community engagement.
The role combines strategic leadership, intellectual direction, and institutional oversight, shaping a coherent cultural agenda rooted in Palestinian identity, relevance, and long-term impact.
As a member of the Senior Management Team, the Director contributes to institutional strategy and cross-programme integration. The position provides visionary leadership and ensures high standards of quality, inclusivity, transparency, and ethical practice across the Foundation’s cultural interventions.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement the Cultural Programme’s overall strategy
- Ensure alignment with the Foundation’s mission and long-term plans
- Represent the programme internally and externally
Cultural Direction & Programming
- Provide intellectual and curatorial leadership
- Oversee public programming, commissions, knowledge outputs, and partnerships
- Guide research, writing, and publications
- Ensure effective use of the Foundation’s physical spaces
Grants & Capacity Development
- Oversee grant-making schemes and sector support mechanisms
- Ensure transparent, inclusive, and responsive funding processes
- Supervise monitoring, evaluation, and governance systems
Partnerships & Fundraising
- Build strategic partnerships locally and internationally
- Contribute to fundraising, proposal development, and donor engagement
- Represent the Foundation in public and professional forums
Management & Governance
- Line-manage senior staff within the Cultural Programme
- Oversee annual work plans and budgets
- Ensure compliance with policies and donor requirements
- Identify and manage operational and reputational risks
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Master’s preferred)
- Minimum 10 years of progressively senior experience in cultural management or programme leadership
- Deep knowledge of Palestinian cultural contexts and their regional/global connections
- Experience with grant-making and capacity development ecosystems
- Proven leadership and managerial experience
- Strong budgeting, planning, and analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills in Arabic and English
- Ability to operate in contexts of instability with adaptive leadership

- Willingness to travel locally and internationally
