The Centre for Modern Art & Theory at Masaryk University’s Department of Art History invites applications for a one-month Visiting Research Fellowship during the Autumn Semester 2026 (September–December).
The Centre promotes research and teaching in modern and contemporary art, visual culture, aesthetics, design, and art criticism. It hosts individual and collaborative research projects and organizes a regular academic programme including guest lectures (SMArt Talks), Work in Progress sessions, and a reading group.
Fellowship Format

Duration: Approximately three to four weeks (within September–December 2026)

Stipend: 50,000 CZK (approx. €2,000)

The stipend is intended to cover travel, accommodation, and contribute to living expenses

Fellows may propose a longer stay using the same fixed stipend
Responsibilities

Conduct independent research with the support of the Centre

Deliver one SMArt Talk lecture

Lead a Work in Progress session

Engage in intellectual exchange with Centre members

Actively participate in the Centre’s academic programme
Eligibility Criteria

Open to researchers at any career stage

Applicants must hold a PhD in a relevant field
