EXPAND – Open Call for Emerging Artists & Producers in Performing Arts

Institution: EXPAND (Empowering the Performing Arts with XR and AI Technologies)
Location: Europe (participating countries: France, Finland, Romania)
Deadline: March 20, 2026

EXPAND invites applications from emerging performing arts teams to explore the creative potential of XR (extended reality) and AI (artificial intelligence) in live performance. The programme seeks 6 creative duos, each composed of:

One emerging performing arts artist (director, choreographer, playwright, etc.)
One producer or creative collaborator

Programme Overview

Selected duos will participate in a 12-month capacity-building programme combining:

Hands-on labs and workshops
Expert-led training sessions
Peer learning and networking
Mentoring on writing, dramaturgy, acting, design, production workflows, and touring models in the context of XR and AI

Eligibility

Emerging performing arts artists and producers/creative collaborators
Teams must be willing to engage in experimentation with XR and AI tools
Participants should be open to collaboration and peer networking within Europe
