Assistant Curator – High Line Art, New York, USA

Contract: Full-time
Salary: $61,200–$65,000 per year

High Line Art is seeking an Assistant Curator to support the development and delivery of its public art programme in New York. Working closely with the Associate Curator and under the direction of the Director & Chief Curator, this role combines curatorial input with strong project management and administrative responsibilities within a fast-paced, public-facing environment.

The position focuses on the production of commissioned, site-specific artworks and performances, as well as the development of public programmes. The Assistant Curator will collaborate across departments and act as a key liaison between artists, internal teams, and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the production of commissioned performances and public art projects

  • Project managing artworks, including budgets, timelines, and collaborators

  • Liaising with artists, galleries, and external vendors

  • Coordinating installations, staging, and production logistics

  • Developing and delivering public programmes in collaboration with internal teams

  • Managing communications content (web, social media, publications)

  • Drafting contracts, agreements, and loan documentation

  • Maintaining archives, records, and project documentation

  • Leading tours and presentations for stakeholders and visitors

  • Supporting research and general curatorial work

Eligibility Criteria

  • Minimum three years of administrative or related experience

  • Degree in Art History or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Strong writing, research, and communication skills

  • Interest in modern and contemporary art

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and Asana

  • High attention to detail and organisational skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
