Bonavista Biennale is seeking a Curator or Curators to lead the artistic vision and delivery of its 2027 edition, a site-specific contemporary art event taking place across the Bonavista Peninsula. Known for its rural and coastal context, the Biennale offers a platform for engaging with local communities through public art, commissions, and place-based practices.
Working closely with the Executive Director and Exhibitions Manager, the selected curator(s) will develop the curatorial framework, select artists, and oversee the production and installation of works across multiple indoor and outdoor sites.
Key Responsibilities

Developing and articulating the curatorial concept and theme

Researching, selecting, and inviting artists

Identifying and coordinating site-specific installations

Overseeing production, installation, and health & safety compliance

Managing artist relationships and project development

Contributing to publications and interpretive materials

Participating in public programming, talks, and media engagement

Supporting partnerships, collaborations, and funding initiatives

Contributing to budget planning and oversight
Eligibility Criteria

Experience working with artists on site-specific or commissioned projects

Curatorial experience in exhibitions, biennials, or public art contexts

Ability to work in remote and logistically complex environments

Strong organisational, communication, and collaboration skills

Valid driver’s license

Knowledge of local or regional contexts (Newfoundland and Labrador) is an asset
