Art Hub Studios, a non-profit Community Interest Company supporting artists at all stages of their careers, seeks a part-time Gallery and Events Curator. This fixed-term role (18 months, 13 hours/week, £20/hour) is designed to grow the exhibition and events programme, engaging both artists and local audiences while expanding public access to contemporary art. The role reports to the Directors and includes a 3-month probation period, with a potential for longer-term continuation.
Job Details
- Part-time, 2 days/week (Mon full day + Tues + Private Views as scheduled)
- Fixed-term: 18 months
- Rate: £20 per hour
- Employment benefits: 11 days annual leave + 1 birthday leave, free access to courses and studio facilities, time off in lieu
Responsibilities
- Curate the annual public programme, including exhibitions and events (minimum two exhibitions per month)
- Coordinate gallery and project space exhibitions, including annual studio group show and open studio events
- Streamline application processes and plan programmes in advance
- Attend private view and opening events
- Prepare contracts, invoices, and manage budgets in collaboration with the finance team
- Promote events through marketing channels, including social media and the website
- Maintain gallery presentation standards, liaising with the maintenance team
- Support business development, outreach, networking, and annual events (Open Studios, Xmas market)
Eligibility Criteria / Person Specification
- Previous experience in a similar role or demonstrable transferable experience
- Strong organisational, administrative, and communication skills
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small team
- Confident interacting with artists, members, and the public
- Desirable: curatorial or events coordination experience, Health & Safety knowledge, safeguarding training, local arts/community networks
