Founded in 1984 as a civic initiative and non-profit association to promote and communicate contemporary visual art in Dortmund, the Dortmunder Kunstverein has established itself as an institution for contemporary art in Dortmund. The position requires presence in Dortmund. Very good knowledge of contemporary art as well as excellent German and at least good English skills are required.
The activities include the following areas of work:
- Curatorial collaboration on exhibitions and on the event and supporting program
- Exhibition preparation and production
- Event organization, occasionally also in the evenings or on weekends
- Office management including preliminary accounting

- Art education
- Press and public relations
- Artist/member/guest support
- (Co)-supervision of annual editions and publications
Your profile:
- Degree in Cultural Studies / Art Studies, Fine Arts, Curatorial Studies, or comparable qualification
- First practical experience in exhibition and project management
- Structured, independent way of working
- High degree of communication skills, social competence, and intercultural sensitivity
- Confident handling of standard office programs
- Interest in professional development in the curatorial field
