Contract: Full-time (6-month probation)
Reporting to: Senior Programmes Manager
Working days: Wednesday to Sunday

The Exhibition Associate supports the development and delivery of exhibitions across gallery-based, travelling, and programme-led formats. The role sits at the intersection of programming and production, translating curatorial and research ideas into spatial and experiential exhibition formats.

The position involves close collaboration with internal teams and external partners to ensure exhibitions are delivered with clarity, quality, and consistency across multiple contexts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development, adaptation, and coordination of exhibitions with partner institutions
  • Coordinate technical, spatial, and production requirements for exhibition delivery
  • Assist in research and selection of artists, projects, and exhibits
  • Coordinate between curatorial, advisory, production, and design teams
  • Translate curatorial concepts into spatial and exhibition-ready formats
  • Work with production teams to ensure feasibility and execution quality
  • Support activation of exhibitions through public programmes and engagement activities
  • Develop and manage travelling exhibitions (inbound and outbound)
  • Prepare proposals, concept notes, and budgets for touring exhibitions
  • Coordinate incoming exhibitions and adapt them to site-specific contexts
  • Develop modular and programme-led exhibition formats (pop-ups, workshops, showcases)
  • Maintain project trackers, budgets, and production documentation systems

Person Specification

Essential

  • 2–4 years of experience in exhibitions, programming, production, or cultural project coordination
  • Experience working on exhibitions, events, or multi-stakeholder cultural projects
  • Strong project management and organisational skills
  • Ability to translate curatorial or research concepts into spatial outputs
  • Basic understanding of exhibition design and spatial planning
  • Experience working across multidisciplinary teams and external partners
  • Knowledge of budgeting and production workflows
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in fast-paced environments

Desirable

  • Experience with travelling or touring exhibitions
  • Ability to develop proposals and exhibition concepts
  • Familiarity with spatial design or scenography tools
  • Experience working with artists and interdisciplinary teams
  • Exposure to public programmes (workshops, talks, engagement formats)
  • Experience with modular or pop-up exhibition formats
  • Interest in art–science or interdisciplinary practices
  • Knowledge of Kannada is a plus
  • Familiarity with project management tools or CMS platforms
