The University of Applied Arts Vienna is Calling for Applications for the / ecm – / educating / curating / making Postgraduate Program
Application deadline: 9 June 2026
How can museums change society? What consequences can curatorial actions have? The /ecm study program for exhibition theory and practice at the University of Applied Arts Vienna is a two-year postgraduate course that provides comprehensive knowledge and skills in the expanded field of museums and exhibitions. In collaborative processes, we experiment with different methods of curatorial research, theory and practice. Thus, discourses, ruptures, and horizons emerge that challenge the canon, occupy exhibition spaces and the public sphere, and seek not only to digitise museums and collections but above all to democratise them.
The /ecm – /education/curating/making study program is aimed at a diverse group of students with varied educational and professional backgrounds and offers two paths: a/ an associate Master’s degree program with a Master’s thesis; b/ a university course with a practice-based research project. Both paths are conducted simultaneously as a joint program.
The next round of the /ecm will start in October 2026 and takes place every second year over four semesters, comprising a total of 22 weekend modules. Applications are open from now until 9 June. The admissions seminar will take place on 23 June.
