In Italy Yeast Photo Festival Launches Its 2026 Open Call for Curators

Two profiles are sought: one European curator and one curator from Apulia.
Yeast Photo Festival returns from 11 September to 8 November 2026, across Galatina and Lecce, in Salento, Southern Italy, with its fifth edition devoted to the theme A Matter of Taste. Alongside the announcement of the festival dates, Yeast officially launches its Open Call for Curators — the annual selection process through which the festival opens its programme to external curatorial voices.
For the 2026 edition, two profiles are being sought: one curator of European nationality and one curator based in Apulia.
The Proposal
Applicants are invited to submit a curatorial project centred on the work of a single European artist, in keeping with the theme of the 2026 edition.
For each selected project, the festival offers: a total fee of €1,000 to be shared between curator and artist; full hospitality coverage during the festival’s opening days; exhibition production and installation; curatorial and organisational support from the Yeast team; and visibility within the festival’s official programme as well as its press and digital communications.
How to Apply
Applications are open until June 7, 2026 and must be submitted as a single PDF file (maximum 10 MB) to info@yeastphotofestival.it.
The PDF must include:
- a curatorial proposal of no more than 2,000 characters including spaces, in keeping with the theme A Matter of Taste;
- a presentation of the selected photographic work, including sample images and the artist’s biography;
a short biography of the curator; - an email address and phone number.
- Selected applicants will be notified by 31 July 2026.
About the Festival
Now in its fifth edition, Yeast Photo Festival is an international photography festival rooted in Salento, Southern Italy, that explores pressing contemporary issues through the lens of food. The Open Call for Curators builds on a path begun in 2025, through which the festival seeks to foster an open, international curatorial space capable of bridging local perspectives with European visions.
Yeast Photo Festival has been promoted and organised by the associations BESAFE and On The Move since 2022, and is curated by Artistic Director Edda Fahrenhorst alongside co-directors Veronica Nicolardi and Flavio & Frank.
