The Curatorial Residency Exchange is a collaborative programme between ARTWORKS and SAHA, designed to foster cross-cultural dialogue and professional development between Greece and Türkiye. The initiative offers curators the opportunity to undertake a six-week residency in either Athens or Istanbul, engaging with local contemporary art ecosystems and institutional networks.
Selected curators will participate in a six-week residency in either Athens or Istanbul, depending on their country of origin. The programme focuses on research, engagement with local art scenes, and the development of curatorial perspectives through direct cultural immersion.
Participants are expected to produce a public presentation and a written reflection on their residency experience, contributing to ongoing institutional discourse and knowledge exchange.
Residency Activities
- Undertake a 6-week curatorial residency in Athens or Istanbul
- Engage with local artists, curators, and cultural institutions
- Conduct research aligned with individual curatorial practice
- Participate in studio visits, roundtables, and public programmes
- Deliver a public presentation of research outcomes
- Submit a written curatorial reflection or essay after the residency
Requirements
- Based in Greece or Türkiye
- Minimum 7 years of professional curatorial experience
- Active engagement in contemporary art practice
- Strong interest in cross-cultural and transnational exchange
- Ability to conduct research and public-facing curatorial work
- Submission of application materials in English
