Amant is seeking an Associate Curator to join its curatorial team in Brooklyn. The role focuses on developing interdisciplinary contemporary art programmes across visual arts, literature, performance, film, and music, combining exhibitions, editorial work, public programming, and residency-related activities.

The position involves close collaboration with senior curatorial staff and participation in the institution’s broader curatorial and residency ecosystem, contributing to exhibitions, publications, and public engagement initiatives.

The Associate Curator works under the supervision of the Chief Curator and collaborates with the curatorial team to develop exhibitions, editorial content, and public programmes. The role includes research, exhibition production, writing, artist relations, and participation in the institution’s residency programme.

The position also contributes to the development of interdisciplinary public programming and supports collaborations across artistic disciplines and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the curatorial team on exhibition development and institutional programming
  • Research, organise, and negotiate loans and exhibition checklists
  • Support exhibition production and installation processes
  • Write curatorial essays, exhibition texts, labels, and editorial materials
  • Develop public programmes including performances, lectures, and workshops
  • Maintain relationships with artists, collaborators, and external stakeholders
  • Support budget tracking and curatorial project management
  • Participate in the selection and development of the residency programme
  • Mentor and support resident artists and public presentations
  • Engage with contemporary art discourse through research and professional activities

Requirements

  • Postgraduate degree in Art History, Philosophy, or related field (PhD preferred)
  • 3–5 years of curatorial experience in museums or cultural institutions
  • Strong portfolio of contemporary art projects across multiple disciplines
  • Excellent writing, editorial, and communication skills
  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities
  • Experience working in interdisciplinary contemporary art contexts
  • Established professional network in the art field (preferred)
  • Experience with administrative and production tasks
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Valid US work permit required
