International Residency Programme

Open Call 2026 International Residency Programme In the meantime nothing happens. Fundación Camila Cañeque × BAR project

Application deadline: 31 July 2026

About the residency

The Fundación Camila Cañeque Residency Programme supports artistic, curatorial, writing and research-based practices grounded in critical thinking, conceptual exploration and open-ended inquiry. In 2026, Fundación Camila Cañeque and BAR project present an international open call for one six-week residency at Mas Verd, Fundación Camila Cañeque’s residence in the Empordà, Catalonia.

The residency is particularly well suited to practices that benefit from time, focused attention, contextual exchange and professional dialogue, especially those that do not depend on conventional production infrastructure. “In the meantime nothing happens” is a phrase drawn from Camila Cañeque’s work, itself quoting Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot. Here, it does not suggest inactivity, but an open interval: a space where attention, thought and perception can unfold beyond conventional expectations of productivity. Taking this premise as a point of departure, the residency proposes pause as a working methodology, offering a framework for research, reflection and experimentation in which not everything needs to be resolved, produced or concluded.

Developed in collaboration with BAR project, an independent platform based in Barcelona with longstanding experience in international residency programmes, curatorial accompaniment and professional support, this residency combines focused time for independent work with contextual exchange and opportunities for professional connection. Surrounded by a landscape that encourages concentration, slowness and sustained attention, Mas Verd offers time and conditions for focused development while remaining connected to wider artistic and cultural contexts through exchanges and professional encounters in Barcelona and across Catalonia.

Residency conditions

The residency will last six weeks and will take place from 8 October to 20 November 2026 at Mas Verd, in the Empordà. The residency includes:

The residency does not include additional production funding.
