South London Gallery is seeking an Emerging Curator Fellow as part of the Deutsche Bank x Frieze Emerging Curator Fellowship, a programme supporting Black and global majority heritage curators through paid placements at leading arts organisations.
This 15-month, trainee-level fellowship offers comprehensive experience across all aspects of exhibitions and public programming, including research, curatorial development, exhibition delivery, events, and archiving. Working closely with the Programme Team and Director, the successful candidate will provide administrative support while developing their own curatorial practice through structured training, mentoring, and independent research.
The Fellow will receive mentoring from the Director and Head of Programme, support for research and travel, and opportunities to build professional networks through the South London Gallery’s Curatorial and Development teams. The fellowship concludes with a public activation supported by Frieze London.
