The Kunsthaus NRW is seeking, at the earliest possible date, a Research Assistant (m/f/d) on a part-time basis (16 hours per week) for the LaB K program – State Office for Fine Arts.

The Kunsthaus NRW is an institution for the promotion of artists, run as an independent, non-profit GmbH under the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, with a history dating back to 1948. The institution’s main location is the old abbey in Aachen-Kornelimünster. The purpose of the Kunsthaus NRW is to promote, present, and mediate fine arts in NRW. In Aachen-Kornelimünster, the collection of acquisition purchases and the state’s art history are on display, as well as exhibitions by young artists from NRW and beyond.
The LaB K program (State Office for Fine Arts/Kunsthaus NRW) is a platform for mediation, communication, and consultation for visual artists. In a small team at the branch office in Düsseldorf, the program components MobiLaB – Mobile Academy, Qualification Program, and Art Mentorship NRW are developed and organized in terms of content.
Your tasks:
- Project management of the funding program Art Mentorship NRW (e.g., communication with mentors and mentees, organization of an excursion and event program)
- Editorial work (including publications, website, social media) and research
- Telephone and written information and consultation regarding the Art Mentorship NRW
- Administrative tasks (e.g., administration of the mentorship program, obtaining quotes for publications)
- Event management
- Assistance and deputizing for the head of the LaB K program
Your profile:
- Completed university degree (Master’s/Magister) in the humanities (e.g., art studies, cultural studies) or fine arts
- Professional experience in administrative activities in the fields of fine arts, art studies, cultural journalism, or cultural management
- Sound knowledge of the North Rhine-Westphalia art scene and current art discourse
- Excellent writing skills and textual proficiency
- Fluency in English, both spoken and written
- Strong organizational skills, strategic thinking, ability to work independently
- Confident demeanor, strong communication skills
- Reliability and loyalty to the institution
- Willingness to travel independently and flexibly within NRW for events
Desirable qualifications:
- Experience in editing publications
- IT skills, proficiency in MS Office products, affinity for digital communication and social media
- Presence in the NRW art scene
