Adélard invites curators from Canada and internationally to propose a project for its 2028 outdoor group exhibition. The programme combines a research residency in Frelighsburg in 2027 with the development and presentation of an exhibition rooted in the surrounding rural territory.
Since 2021, Adélard has presented outdoor exhibitions across heritage buildings, everyday spaces and natural environments. These routes connect contemporary art with landscapes, history and local life, inviting audiences to rediscover familiar places and explore lesser-known sites.
Research residency
The selected curator will spend a total of four to six weeks in residence, divided into two sessions during 2027. Dates will be agreed according to the curator’s availability and accommodation availability.
The residency will support curatorial research, exploration of the territory, identification of exhibition sites and meetings with artists, local partners and other contributors. With Adélard’s support, the curator will refine the exhibition concept, artist selection, artworks and presentation arrangements.
Private accommodation is provided free of charge. The apartment is accessible by stairs.
Exhibition proposal
The exhibition will feature three to six professional artists and must be presented for the first time at Adélard. It may include existing works, new commissions or a combination of both.
Proposals should develop a meaningful relationship with the exhibition sites, considering their architecture, uses, history, and social or ecological dimensions. Projects must also account for outdoor conditions, the six-month presentation period, public use of the sites and environmental care.
Adélard provides a CAD $1,500 research residency fee and a CAD $4,000 curatorial exhibition fee, alongside logistical and production support and introductions to local partners.
