About the Fellowship

in-tangible Institute invites applications for its third Curatorial Fellowship, a one-year, part-time opportunity for an aspiring Thai curator interested in developing curatorial skills, artistic communities and collaborative programmes.

The fellowship offers curatorial mentorship and professional development, with an emphasis on building healthier and more sustainable relationships between artists, curators and cultural institutions.

Working under the guidance of Zoe Butt, Founder and Director at Large of in-tangible Institute, the selected fellow will contribute to the development and realisation of programmes connecting Chiang Mai’s art community with a wider network of artists, curators, thinkers and institutions.

Fellowship Activities

The fellow will gain practical experience in research, writing and programme facilitation, contributing to in-tangible Institute’s mission to nurture productive, critical and innovative relationships within contemporary art.

Activities will include:

  • Assisting with the development and delivery of curatorial and artistic programmes.
  • Supporting conversations and collaborations between artists, curators and institutions.
  • Developing research, writing and facilitation skills.
  • Contributing to initiatives that strengthen Chiang Mai’s contemporary art community.
  • Learning approaches to building sustainable and interdisciplinary art networks.

The fellowship involves flexible working arrangements across community libraries, artist studios and the Institute’s office in Chiang Mai.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be Thai nationals.
  • Live in Chiang Mai throughout the fellowship.
  • Be proficient in spoken and written English.
  • Hold an undergraduate degree in the arts, in any field.
  • Demonstrate an interest in working in the contemporary art and cultural sector.
  • Have an awareness of the Thai contemporary art scene.
  • Be competent in graphic design.
  • Be able to assist with basic Thai–English translation.

The Institute is particularly interested in community-focused candidates who are curious, critical, organised and willing to learn through collaboration.

Mentorship and Professional Development

Led by Zoe Butt, the fellowship provides an opportunity to develop a strong curatorial practice through direct engagement with artists, cultural practitioners and the wider contemporary art community.

The programme emphasises research, critical thinking, collaborative learning and the cultivation of sustainable relationships across the arts.
