The V&A is the world’s leading museum of art and design. We enrich people’s lives by promoting the practice of design and increasing knowledge, understanding and enjoyment of the designed world.

We are recruiting for a senior curator to work with the team developing the V&A’s vision for its new museum in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. In this role you will work at the V&A to help plan, deliver and communicate the vision set out by the project’s directors. The aim is to bring a new kind of civic institution to East London using the extraordinary resource of the V&A’s collection.

You will develop and manage collaborations across the collections and learning departments and help conceive an art and design museum for the 21st century with public participation at its heart. Reporting to the Keeper of Design, Architecture and Digital, this two-year appointment will jump start the curatorial effort needed to bring the ethos of the V&A to East London in fresh and relevant ways.

This unique opportunity demands someone with extremely good interpersonal and leadership talents, as well as a genuine passion for public institutions and the role of great collections in public life. You will also need motivational and organisational skills, working within a complex organisation. Also desirable would be good knowledge of the V&A’s collections and mission, the context of East London and ideas of innovative museum practice.
