By 2017, the Whitechapel Gallery is set to become one of the best connected galleries in London. The Marketing Manager joins a growing and influential Communications team to play a vital strategic role in reaching new audiences and delivering campaigns that will take the Gallery into this exciting new chapter.

Passionate and pro-active about promoting all aspects of the Gallery and what makes it unique – from it’s location, history, and dynamic programme of exhibitions to it’s diverse public events and community initiatives – the Marketing Manager is committed to working closely with colleagues in all departments to effectively grow audiences locally, nationally and internationally for the Gallery.

With experience of the full range of marketing techniques to do this – from producing compelling copy and lead creative for print and online campaigns, to securing marketing partnerships, promotions and integrating e-commerce strategies, the Marketing Manager sits within an ambitious Communications team. This team comprises a Head of Communications, Media Relations Manager, Digital Content Editor and Design & Production Manager, supported by freelancers for specific projects.

Conditions of work:

  • Permanent contract
  • Hours of work: 9.30am – 5.45pm, Monday to Friday, plus some occasional weekend and evening work, which will be compensated by time off in lieu.
  • Starting salary: in the region of £28K-£30K dependent on experience
  • 25 days annual leave
  • Option of 4.5% of your gross salary provided as employers’ pension contribution

  • Notice: 2 months in writing on either side, 2 weeks during the probation period
  • Probation period: 6 months
