Salary: 23,000, per annum pro rata
Holidays: 25 days, per annum pro rata
Hours: 1248 hours (including holidays, excluding breaks) to be worked over an average of 3 days per week. Please note for the first 6 months the hours will be full-time (5 days per week) to prepare, set-up and establish the Design Museum Library in time for its opening in November.
The role
On 24 November 2016, the Design Museum will be re-opening at its new premises in the former Commonwealth Institute in Kensington. In the first instance the Collections Officer will be required to assist with the installation of the Sackler Library and the Collections Store at Kensington, in collaboration with the Head of Collection and Research. Ongoing duties include undertaking large-scale cataloguing projects, managing the collections store and assisting with the operation of the library.The Collections Officer is responsible for the management and administration of the Design Museum collection, the new Sackler Library and the Design Museum’s archives
The person
You will be enthusiastic and efficient with proven experience of collections care and outstanding project management and organisational skills. You will have a degree in design or art history, collections care or equivalent.
