Deadline: September 22, 2016
Post-doctoral Research Fellow (Afterall/CSM)
Why choose us?
Afterall is a Research Centre of University of the Arts London, located at Central Saint Martins in King’s Cross. Central Saint Martins is a world-leading centre for arts and design education. Afterall is focused on research into the context and consequences of artistic production and the histories of exhibitions in shaping the public agency of art, artists and curators. It publishes a series of books and readers as well as a semiannual journal with a number of international partners.
The role
This post offers an exciting opportunity to work with Afterall and an international network of research partners. The post is initially focused on editorial work for Afterall journal and on contributions to the development of our other book series. As a member of the research centre you will be expected to publish your own research in Afterall and external publications and make a significant contribution to the centre’s research profile. You will be expected to contribute to discussions on the historical development of visual art, its public reception and its social and political function, to commission and edit texts by third parties and to prepare material for publication. The centre is closely linked to the MRes Art: Exhibition Studies pathway and there will be optional opportunities to contribute to teaching on this and other CSM advanced courses.
Your profile
We are looking for someone to bring excellent research and editing skills to the post, with a passion for contemporary art and firm knowledge of exhibition histories. You will be familiar with the academic publishing environment, experienced in commissioning and editing texts, and also in researching, writing and publishing your own work.
In return, University of the Arts London offers generous leave, an attractive pension and a commitment to your continuing personal development and training in an environment that encourages excellence, creativity and diversity. Relocation assistance is available.
