The Royal Academy of Arts is one of the UK’s foremost arts institutions, famous for its programme of temporary exhibitions. Dedicated to promoting the creation, study and enjoyment of art to all audiences it is led by eminent artists and architects, and unique in having practitioners at its very core.
The RA consistently delivers some of the biggest, most popular temporary exhibitions in London and the diversity of our exhibitions programme sets us apart. From ancient sculptures to modern-day masterpieces and large-scale installations, we are the original home of the blockbuster. From 2010-13, five of the world’s top ten exhibitions with the highest daily attendance were held at the RA and in 2015, nearly 400,000 visitors came to see Ai Weiwei.
About the role
Our fantastic Exhibitions Department organises the RA’s world renowned programme of eight to ten temporary exhibitions each year, displayed in the Academy’s Main Galleries, Sackler Wing of Galleries and forthcoming Burlington Galleries.
Highlights of our Exhibition programme in 2017 include America after the Fall and Matisse in the Studio.
We are looking for an experienced Exhibitions Manager, who will be responsible for project managing world-class exhibitions from inception to conclusion.
About you
You will possess a thorough knowledge of organising loan exhibitions on a large scale, with specific and robust experience of loan negotiation, organizing transport, insurance and immunity from seizure, touring exhibitions, budget management, and planning exhibition installs and strikes.
You will demonstrate excellent project management, interpersonal and communication skills, and have the ability to work simultaneously on numerous projects. You must be able to work collaboratively. You will have an adaptable approach to work, and be able to achieve projects within tight deadlines. The ability to speak another European language would be advantageous.
