In addition to gaining a comprehensive perspective of the process of exhibition planning and execution, the Exhibitions Intern will work with Exhibitions Assistant and Coordinators in large-scale SFMOMA Exhibitions history files research and completion project as well as various projects of interest, including but not limited to the circulation of external exhibition proposals.
Department Background:
The Exhibitions Department manages exhibitions programs and projects through the design, technical, installation and administrative teams. Working in conjunction with almost all other departments museum-wide, the Exhibitions department oversees an exhibition’s planning from its conception, offering a broad view of the process of exhibition development at a world-class fine arts museum.

Friday, February 17th, 2017- Friday, April, 28th, 2017

Under the close supervision of the Exhibitions Co-Directors, the intern(s) will be responsible for:
- Researching, compiling, and filling in robust SFMOMA exhibitions history files; assist in evaluating, circulating and tracking external exhibition proposals; other responsibilities as identified by Intern and Exhibitions Assistant
- Interns will be required to attend regular classes to further their understanding of museum careers.
Requirements:
- Student (graduate or undergraduate) in: fine arts, art history, museum studies, exhibitions design
- Additional skills, experience etc.: knowledge of and interest in contemporary and modern art and artists, strong organizational and research skills
- Intern must be available to work every Friday
