We have an opening for a full-time Director of Collections and Exhibitions Management to oversee the day to day management of exhibitions and the MCA collection. Specific areas of responsibility include: ensuring that all works of art are properly insured, protected and documented; supervising registrar, rights and images, and exhibition production staff; managing the full cycle of traveling exhibition programs; writing, negotiating, and managing all documents related to MCA-organized, co-organized, and rented exhibitions; and overseeing the financial and human capital operations of the department. Occasional local, regional, and/or international travel to accompany MCA collection pieces to other institutions may also be required.
RequirementsDesired qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Arts Management and/or Art History (Master’s degree preferred) with emphasis on the field of 20th and 21st century art, at least 10 years of museum experience in collections and exhibition management, and:
- Significant experience in art registration, exhibition touring, contract drafting and negotiation.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with museum database systems.
This is a full-time position with a schedule of Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm with occasional additional hours as required by activity in department. General mobility throughout the museum is required.
