Part-time Gallery Manager | USA

The Gallery Manager coordinates the day-to-day operations of the Manresa Gallery, as well as long-term planning and project management. The Gallery Manager is responsible for all administrative duties, financial records and book keeping, facilitating installations and de-installations, documentation of exhibitions, publishing and design oversight, website maintenance, gallery assistant supervision, and general upkeep of the gallery. The Gallery Manager also provides organizational and administrative support to the various groups we work with in the gallery.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate all administration as needed including loan requests and agreements, fine arts insurance coverage, shipping, return of artwork collections, etc.
  • Manage gallery sitting, installation, and events schedules, in coordination with parish schedule of events.
  • Installations and de-installations: organize installation team, condition reporting, and packing/unpacking of artworks
  • Maintain and update all gallery files and organizational systems.
  • Compile, edit and distribute exhibitions checklists, wall texts, and educational materials
  • Design and manage the printing and distribution of gallery materials
  • Coordinate all logistics for opening receptions, lectures and symposia
  • Maintain an archive of Gallery ephemera
  • Train and manage gallery sitters, interns, and volunteers
  • Fill in gallery sitting shifts on an as-needed basis
  • Coordinate short-term and long-term gallery improvements and maintenance
  • Update and maintain website and maintain online presence via social media platforms and online arts communities as directed
  • Oversee exhibition and program photo/video documentation
  • Maintain ongoing promotion and advertising of the gallery; design and distribute all press materials and gallery announcements
  • Track budget, keeps all records current and provides updates when needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications:

  • Enthusiastic with can-do attitude
  • Flexible schedule
  • Knowledge regarding contemporary art and art practices
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with the public, providing guided tours and help with any inquiries. Able to work with a variety of people and environments (i.e. parishoners, USF students, contemporary art community, parish staff and volunteers, etc.)
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Fast learner, attention to detail, responsible, self-starter and well-organized
  • Knowledge of gallery/museum installation and maintenance procedures, experience organizing exhibitions and programming
  • Detail-oriented
  • Creative thinker in regards to community engagement and exhibition planning
