Curatorial Assistant | UK
Curatorial Assistant Fixed Term 3 Years
Location: Edinburgh
Category: Administration, Curatorial
Salary: £17,960 – £19,139
Hours: Full time
This fixed-term role is a new post that has been supported by the Bridget Riley Art Foundation as an exceptional development opportunity for an aspiring curator to develop their career within the gallery and museum sector.
Based within the modern and contemporary curatorial department, the Curatorial Assistant will have the opportunity to develop a wide range of curatorial skills associated with the collection and programming of a major national gallery. Working with different departments across the NGS, such as Collection Management, Development, Digital, Learning, Press, Marketing and Retail, will allow the post-holder to develop a comprehensive overview and working knowledge of all aspects of working in a national institution.
As well as working closely with colleagues across NGS, the Curatorial Assistant will also have an opportunity for mentoring by senior colleagues within NGS, including the Director-General, Sir John Leighton, and the Director of Modern & Contemporary Art, Simon Groom, to gain a fuller understanding of the cultural, economic and strategic contexts within which NGS currently operates.
The post is based at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, and will report directly to a Senior Curator.
