This is an exciting opportunity to shape and lead a new team within the collections directorate at the British Museum, focussing on the delivery of strategically significant cross-collection projects. The role will lead cross-directorate support teams in the areas of research resources – libraries, archives and research management and administrative functions in support of the Museum’s curatorial, scientific and collection care departments.
Key areas of responsibility:
- Planning and delivering major cross-museum projects relating to the collection.
- Building, leading and developing multi-disciplinary teams.
- Contributing to the co-ordination of the strategy for the long term future of the Museum’s estate and developing long term plans for the storage of the collection in accordance and for the Museum’s research resources.
Person Specification:
Educated to degree level with a recognised qualification in project management (or equivalent experience), you will have worked in a major museum and be able to demonstrate working knowledge of how complex museums operate. You will have experience of team management within a relevant sector, and in the design and delivery of complex projects such as capital projects or those involving the moving of sensitive collection material. You will have significant experience of programme management, strategic business planning and of liaising with senior internal and external stakeholders.
