About HATCH ART PROJECT

Hatch Art Project is a new contemporary art gallery located in Asia Square at the heart of Singapore’s Central Business District.

Having recently launched on 4th of June 2018, Hatch is focused in promoting the arts in Singapore by giving young artists from all around Asia a platform to showcase their works and engaging the public.

Through exhibitions, workshops, community outreach, and digital content creation, expect art that is not only visually arresting but also works that explores the current social climate in Asia with a global context.

Role

The Assistant Curator works with a small and busy team on the realisation of projects with artists, lenders and arts institutions; delivering modern and contemporary exhibitions and commissions.

The Assistant Curator supports all aspects of the organisation’s exhibitions, live event, talk and other programmes, from arranging and co-ordinating logistics to managing relationship with artists and third party partners. It will also include aspects of research, organizing exhibition. Closely work with the Chief curator and Marketing team.

Main duties

  • Providing support from the research and development stage of a project through to its realisation
  • Liaise with artists and their representatives.
  • Monitor and maintain budgets for specific exhibition and exhibition catalogues
  • To manage the production of exhibitions and events, and to ensure that the exhibitions and events come to fruition in a timely fashion and to a high standard
  • evening and weekend working to attend and network at events will be required
  • booking of flights and accommodation for artists, and members of Curatorial team where necessary
  • To provide a first point of contact on behalf of the Curatorial Team, and to deal with incoming event and programming enquiries

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Criteria

  • Educated to university degree level or equivalent experience with visual arts, art history, film, performance or curatorial emphasis
  • Excellent communicator at all levels, including writing skills
  • Highly organised
  • Previous experience in working closely with artists, and managing suppliers and contractors
  • Photoshop skill is required
  • A minimum of two years in arts curation or production
  • Ability to work independently, use judgement to solve problems
  • Knowledge, engagement and enthusiasm for the contemporary arts
