Join us for our next Members’ Program on Thursday, July 15 at 6.30pm Berlin time for an informal conversation on the Graduate Programs in Curating at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) with Prof. Dr. Dorothee Richter, Director of the Study Program and Professor of Contemporary Curating.
The Graduate Programs in Curating are conceived of as discursive platforms which impart key areas of contemporary exhibition making by way of praxis-oriented project work. With instruction modules, group activities, seminars, and lectures held by an international selection of guest lecturers, various fields of knowledge are researched and projects are developed and carried to realization.

Prof. Dr. Dorothee Richter: Graduate Programs in Curating at the Zurich University of the Arts

Prof. Dr. Dorothee Richter is a curator, art historian, and critic. Since 2005, she has been the head of the Postgraduate Programme in Curating at ZHdK and holds a professorship at the Zurich University of the Arts and the University of Reading. From 1999 to 2003, she was artistic director of the Künstlerhaus Bremen, where she curated a discursive program based on feminist issues, urban situations, power relation issues, and institutional critique. She is the publisher of www.OnCurating.org, an online and print magazine on curatorial practice and theory. Since 1998, Prof. Dr. Richter has held lecturing posts at the University of Bremen, the Merzakademie Stuttgart, the École des Beaux Arts in Geneva, and the University of Lüneburg. She has co-curated numerous symposia, including “Re-Visions of the Display” with Jennifer Johns and Sigrid Schade at the Migros Museum in Zurich in 2009; “Institution as Medium. Curating as Institutional Critique?” with Rein Wolfs in 2010; and “Who is Afraid of the Public?” in 2013 at the ICA London with Elke Krasny and Silvia Simoncelli and at the University of Reading. In 2013, Prof. Dr. Richter has co-created the symposium “Third, fourth and fifth spaces: Curatorial practices in new public and social (digital) spaces” with the Manifesta Journal and the Institute of Contemporary Art of the ZHdK at the Migros Museum. In the same year, she released a film together with Ronald Kolb: “Flux Us Now! Fluxus explored with a camera” which was screened at the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart and the Migros Museum in Zurich, among other European art academies and museums.
