Cédric Fauq appointed Curator of Contemporary International Art at Moderna Museet

Moderna Museet has announced the appointment of Cédric Fauq as Curator of Contemporary International Art. He will take up the position on 1 December 2026.

Fauq joins the museum from Capc Musée d’art contemporain de Bordeaux, where he currently serves as Chief Curator and Head of Programmes and Collections. His recent projects at Capc include the group exhibition Blackground: murmures des mornes, co-curated with S. Mochtari; the retrospective Rammellzee Alphabeta Sigma (Side B), co-curated with Hugo Vitrani; and Trevor Yeung’s commissioned work Garden of the Nine Suns.

Welcoming the appointment, Moderna Museet Director Tone Hansen described Fauq’s experience, curiosity and engagement with key artistic questions as valuable to the institution as it develops a new vision bringing together art, public art, architecture and design.

Born in France in 1992, Fauq holds an MA in Curating Contemporary Art from the Royal College of Art in London. Before joining Capc, he held curatorial positions at Palais de Tokyo and Nottingham Contemporary.

Alongside his institutional roles, Fauq has continued to develop independent projects. He recently collaborated with Matthieu Laurette on the artist’s retrospective at the Musée d’art contemporain du Val-de-Marne. He also teaches at HEAD – Genève and Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and served on the Turner Prize jury in 2023.
