Documenta 16 Appoints New Finding Committee


 

KASSEL – Documenta 16 has announced the appointment of six distinguished international contemporary art experts to its new Finding Committee. The committee, formed upon the recommendation of the Managing Director and unanimously approved by the Supervisory Board, will be responsible for inviting and selecting the next Artistic Direction for Documenta 16.

The appointed members are:

  • Yilmaz Dziewior: Director of Museum Ludwig in Cologne, renowned for his extensive curatorial experience, including exhibitions at the Venice Biennale.
  • Sergio Edelsztein: Freelance curator and founder of the Center for Contemporary Art in Tel Aviv, with notable curations in international biennales.
  • N’Goné Fall: Independent curator and cultural policies specialist from Senegal, known for her editorial leadership at Revue Noire and curatorial work across continents.
  • Gridthiya Gaweewong: Artistic Director of the Jim Thompson Art Center in Bangkok, celebrated for her curatorial projects addressing social change in Southeast Asia.
  • Mami Kataoka: Director of the Mori Art Museum, Tokyo, with extensive experience in curating major international exhibitions and biennales.
  • Yasmil Raymond: Independent curator based in Frankfurt, formerly Director at Portikus and Rector of Städelschule.

The committee will seek pioneering figures in contemporary art to present their concepts for Documenta 16, ensuring the selection of the most innovative and promising direction for the exhibition slated to take place in Kassel.
