Members’ Pecha Kucha

Dear CFC Members,

We are thrilled to invite you to our first Members’ Pecha Kucha, which will take place on Thursday, April 22 at 6.30pm Berlin time.

Five members, chosen through an open call, will discuss current and recent curatorial projects in the form of Pecha Kucha presentations:

Tak Pham – Human Capital. An Exhibition about Immigration
Kefiloe Siwisa – Towards Curatorial Consciousness
Sumitra Sunder – A Glimpse into Curatorial Practice in South India

Members’ Pecha Kucha

Cécile Bourne-Farell is a curator living and working in London. She has served as Exhibition Coordinator at the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris and has curated cultural projects for public and private institutions ever since. Bourne-Farell was on the committee of the NMAC Foundation/Montenmedio, Spain; part of the curatorial delegation of L’appartement22, Rabat, Morocco; and works with Mari Linnman on the implementation of new public projects in the suburbs of Paris. She was the Spanish mediator for the Fondation de France from 2002 to 2008, and the 2019-2020 Curator of Special Projects and advisor of Arts Cabinet, London. She was invited-curator of SUD2017 triennale, Douala, Cameroon. As an active AICA and CIMAM member, she writes regularly for different media and publications.

Nicky Ni is a curator and writer living in Chicago. She was co-founder of LITHIUM (2017-2019), a Pilsen-based gallery dedicated to time-based art. LITHIUM then became TNL (aka. The Neu Lithium), an online editorial and curatorial platform for time-based and media art. Additionally, Ni has curated exhibitions or screenings at Conversations at the Edge, Mana Contemporary, Museum of Contemporary Photography, and SITE Galleries, among others. She has written for Chicago Artist Writers and Sixty Inches from Center. Ni graduated with an MA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a BS from Northwestern University, and is originally from Beijing, China.

Tak Pham is a Vietnamese curator. He holds an MFA in Criticism and Curatorial Practices from OCAD University, and a BA in History and Theory of Architecture from Carleton University. Pham has curated exhibitions, projects, and public programming at OCAD University, Art Gallery of Ontario, Art Toronto, Y+ Contemporary, Xpace Cultural Centre, Trinity Square Video, 8eleven Gallery, Images Festival, Nuit Blanche Toronto, Museum Toronto, Varley Art Gallery, Pleasuredome, Artist Project, and numerous private art consultation projects. His curatorial projects have been featured in Canadian Art, Akimbo, Blouin Artinfo, CBC Arts, Culture Magazine, the Leader Post Regina, and NOW Toronto.

Kefiloe Siwisa is a curator and cultural worker, communing and divining with ideas known, less known and unknown. Siwisa is based in Johannesburg as an Associate at Stevenson Gallery. She has previously served as curator of Turbine Art Fair and assistant curator of 1- 54 Contemporary African Art Fairs’ public program. Siwisa has collaborated with organizations, galleries and institutions in South Africa, the UK, the United States, and Morocco. She holds an MFA in Curating from Goldsmiths University, London, and a BA in Art History and Visual Culture from the University of Cape Town, South Africa.

Sumitra Sunder is a curator based in Bangalore, India. She is a queer woman and has been involved in the organization and implementation of a number of initiatives in Bangalore, India. Between 2012 and 2015, Sunder was closely involved with the annual Namma Pride festivities in the city and in 2017, worked closely with the filmmaker T Jayashree to set up the beginnings of QAMRA – a Queer Archive for Memory, Reflection and Activism. She has a BFA in Art History (2007) and a MA in Museology (2010). Sunder has also spent seven years pursuing a doctoral degree in Art History, beginning in 2012. A recipient of multiple awards from the Kochi Biennale Foundation and the Curatorial Intensive South Asia for curatorial work, as well as a five-year fellowship to pursue doctoral research in Contemporary Art Curating, her interests are in archival work and follow a rather unorthodox path.
