Sam Bardaouil And Till Fellrath To Curate 14th Taipei Biennial

The Taipei Fine Arts Museum (TFAM) is thrilled to announce the much-anticipated 14th Taipei Biennial set for November 2025. This edition promises to be a landmark event, curated by the acclaimed duo, Sam Bardaouil and Till Fellrath. Known for their dynamic and interdisciplinary approach, Bardaouil and Fellrath bring their rich experience and global perspective to one of Asia’s premier art events.

A Curatorial Vision Centered on Artistic Expression

Bardaouil and Fellrath, with their diverse backgrounds in art history, theatre, economics, and political science, are the perfect choice to lead the 14th edition. They are committed to a curatorial approach that foregrounds artists, ensuring their voices play a pivotal role in exploring the complexities of our world. The duo’s global network and innovative strategies are set to enrich the Biennial’s tradition, connecting Taipei’s vibrant art scene with international currents.

A Legacy of Cultural Innovation

Currently at the helm of Hamburger Bahnhof – National Gallery of Contemporary Art in Berlin, Bardaouil and Fellrath have made significant contributions to the global art landscape. Their work includes notable curations such as the pavilions of the United Arab Emirates and France at the Venice Biennale, and the 16th Lyon Biennale, titled “Manifesto of Fragility”. Their collaborative platform, “Art Reoriented”, has partnered with over 70 museums worldwide, showcasing their ability to weave local narratives into a global context.

Reflections on the Past, Visions for the Future

The previous Taipei Biennial in 2023 set a high bar, transforming TFAM into a space of immersive engagement. The event attracted nearly 200,000 visitors, highlighting its status as a key player in the international art world. The upcoming edition aims to build on this success, with TFAM Director Jun-Jieh Wang emphasizing a longer preparation period for deeper intercultural engagement and a more profound exploration of contemporary art’s role in society.

Building Bridges through Art

TFAM continues to foster connections between Taiwanese art and the global community. Collaborations, such as the “Small World Cinema” with New York’s SculptureCenter, showcase the museum’s commitment to cultural exchange. The upcoming edition in Beirut will further this dialogue, promoting interaction between Taiwan and the Middle Eastern art scene.

The Taipei Biennial: A Platform for Global Dialogue

Since its inception in 1998, the Taipei Biennial has been a cornerstone of contemporary art in Asia. It serves as a dynamic platform for interaction, debate, and the exchange of ideas, reflecting the evolving landscape of global and regional art. The 14th edition, under the guidance of Bardaouil and Fellrath, is set to continue this tradition, offering new perspectives and engaging experiences for both local and international audiences.
