Artist Santiago Mostyn has been appointed curator of the 14th edition of Göteborg International Biennial for Contemporary Art (GIBCA), organised by Röda Sten Konsthall. Taking place from 4 September to 21 November 2027, the biennial will unfold across Gothenburg through collaborations with art institutions and venues across the city.

Based in Stockholm, Mostyn works within film, installation and performance. His practice can be viewed as an ongoing visual research framework in which non-aligned histories and personal memory intersect. Mostyn grew up in Trinidad and Zimbabwe, received his BA from Yale University, and was the 2024–25 Logie Fellow at Harvard Radcliffe Institute.

Together with Joa Ljungberg, Mostyn curated The Moderna Exhibition: With the Future Behind Us (2018), a comprehensive presentation of artists connected to the Swedish art scene that reckoned with questions of cultural and spiritual identity. Alongside Susanna Marcus Jablonski, he was also commissioned to create Sweden’s first anti-racist monument, inaugurated in Malmö in October 2026.

An initial curatorial outline of the project will be presented publicly at Röda Sten Konsthall on 18 November 2026.
